Sabine Bay is a small, sheltered bay just off Pensacola Beach, protected on all sides and accessible only through a narrow channel that connects to the Santa Rosa Sound. Thanks to this natural enclosure, the water here is typically calm, making it an attractive spot for a variety of water activities.
You’ll often see tourists launching paddleboards and kayaks from the sandy shoreline, as well as a steady flow of boaters cruising through. The bay’s center features an extremely shallow sandbar, which is a popular spot for wading and relaxing - but a potential hazard for eFoilers.
If you're riding here, be sure to follow the channel markers carefully to navigate around the sandbar. Straying off-course can quickly result in beaching your board in shallow water.
Boat traffic can vary depending on the day and season. Expect tiki pontoons floating around during the summer months, tourists renting paddle boards and kayaks, as well as other traffic entering the bay from the Santa Rosa Sound.
This is a great area to explore for newer riders who have done at least a lesson and are able to stand up. It's imperative that riders understand how to follow channel markers due to shallow depths.
