Vanns Tavern is a small park with restrooms located directly on the main body of Lake Lanier. This is the spot on Lanier for Kite & Wing Foiling during east winds. Utilize Old Federal Park - directly across the lake - for days with west winds. -Bryan
Clear Lake water, several feet of visibility.
Early mornings there is minimal boat traffic. Early afternoons during the week see minimal to moderate boat traffic. Weekends and late afternoons can see high boat traffic. Weekend boaters are not courteous, do not pay attention, and will run you down.
When winds are high enough for Kite & Wing Foiling the boat traffic is usually low.
For Kite & Wing foilers, this is the only option on Lanier when there are east winds.
For eFoilers you can take a right from the recommended launch location and make your way up 2 mile creek. It's a small winding creek that sees little boat traffic and is well protected from the wind. Makes a great ride for beginners as well as advanced riders on small wings looking for calm waters. Or you can make your way out into the main channel, where wind chop and boat wakes can make for a challenging ride.

Kite & Wing foilers will want to launch from the beach by the single, permanently closed, boat ramp, directly into the main channel.
For eFoilers, make your way around to the three open boat ramps and back down to unload directly onto the sand beach next to the ramps. The beach drops off sharply.
This is a US Army Corps of Engineers park with plenty of parking, though there is an entry fee. You can use your annual or lifetime Corps Pass or purchase a day ($8) or annual ($40) pass, credit card only, on site.
